Support of existing fab application and of engineers using them through on-call duties.

Description

Recruited out of Cornell University to be a part of the LTD Automation Department at the D1D Fabrication facility (fab) in Hillsboro, OR. The Automation Department in Hillsboro, OR develops applications and establishes procedures to deploy to all other fabrication facilities in the world. Whereas all other fabrication facilities in the world house departments to run and support the chip making fabs, it is the LTD Automation Department that creates and distributes the software, procedures and structure to those fabs. The departments and Aleksandra’s mission was to make the fabrication facilities across the world “lights-out” facilities: facilities that require minimal human involvement in their operation. As part of that mission, Aleksandra worked on a project to monitor the health of the fabrication facilities, building a security and health indication model and developed methods to determine the state of each critical application in the fab. Further participated in the improvement of existing application that deliver recipes to wafers for making Intel chips. A part of the company-wide initiative to test out all functionality and improve quality of the applications. Lead software engineer to develop a new application for Intel chip recipe delivery.

Health and Security Project

As part of the work objective to make Intel D1D chip fabrication facility (fab) a “lights-out” facility, worked on an application to monitor the health of the fab. Created the health model that determined the state of the fab based on operation status of applications’ services, web services and logged errors. Implemented the health model using Powershell to determine the state of the services for each different application and sift through different types of log files to find errors. Incorporated the Powershell script into a desktop application written in C#.NET Windows Forms to display the health of each application. Implemented PerfMon monitoring trackers to determine the state of fabrication facility machines and their applications. Developed a web service written in C#.NET in order to give the desktop application access to databases inside Intel firewalls. Challenges to the web service were to serialize object data into string and recreate the object on the web service end. Challenges for the project lay in incorporating data from applications written 20 years ago in multiple different languages without any standard on architecture or log uniformity.

Recipe Selector Application

Lead software engineer for a recipe selector application that improved the selection of recipes across the chip making fab. Written in C#.NET as a desktop application using .NET WinForms.

Support of Existing Applications

Supported applications that run the chip making fab. Duties included 24/7 on-call support every 5th week, monitoring and scheduling application upgrades across the fab and various departments, being a part of various meetings during on-call support weeks to monitor, assess and hold post mortems on issues in the fab, being a part of efforts to fix any issues intel engineers face in the chip making fab while using our legacy applications.

Support Upgrade of Recipe Selector Application

Participated in a department and all fab-wide testing efforts for new recipe-selector applications.
